Cross-border commuters are welcome in the Crossdresser Shop
Conchita Wurst has shown everyone what courageous cross-border commuters can do in society. They can create understanding, just as Tom Neuwirth did impressively with his alter ego Conchita. Tom, however, defines himself as gay. He wants to bury Conchita Wurst soon. His alter ego has served its purpose. The full-bearded Conchita served the travesty artist and singer only to bring his message in a charming way to the prejudiced people. In a similar way, Hamburg's Schmidt Theatre was able to overcome taboos and prejudices.
With terms regarding sexual identity, this is such a thing. Keyword-like terms, as everyone finds them in Wikipedia, put people in some kind of pigeonhole because of too superficial features. In these, those affected can neither feel understood nor comfortable, nor do they want to identify with such terms. Terms such as crossdresser, transgender, transsexuality or intersexual reduce a person only to his genetic sexuality.
What distinguishes transgender people from transsexuals?
Transgender people are described as not comfortable with their genetic sex. Genetically unambiguous women feel more like men. They often dress accordingly. Genetic men secretly or openly take on the role of a woman. They are comfortable with fake breasts and feminine clothing. They usually do not think about surgical gender reassignment. Transgender people who cross the boundaries to the opposite sex through crossdressing must be distinguished from people who are assigned to transsexuality. Some also call them simply "queer", i.e. beyond what is perceived as "normal".
Many - but by no means all - trannies sooner or later strive for gender reassignment surgery. They feel in the wrong body or as transgender - more precisely: as trans-identical. This term is also used as a synonym for transgender sufferers or transsexual people. Transident is someone whose body does not match the gender given to the person concerned by nature. Operational alignment is therefore more likely to correct the perceived identity.
What defines gender?
Those who shed their congenital sex without surgical gender reassignment are also referred to in the wrong terms. This complicates the situation. The commonly used terms reject transsexual people. Some see themselves as intersex, i.e. due to anatomical, genetic or hormonal conditions as floating between the two sexes. Each term label only captures aspects of the problem.
Any terminology should therefore be treated with caution. It usually serves discrimination and demarcation rather than a helpful assignment. Why someone reaches for silicone breasts, women's shoes in oversize or wigs, does not matter to us. We see meandering and hiking between the sexes as a pleasurable occupation. You could also see it this way: Anyone who gains experience in the outfit of the opposite sex may then have more understanding for the limitations of role clichés or the appeal of border crossings.
Putting on dreamlike silicone breasts is not only popular with actresses who want to present themselves with an attractive bust. Even normal women with breast cancer are interested in breast prostheses.
Upholstered trousers conceal an overly flat aft. Having sexy curves can also be promoted by PusUp pants and a silicone breast. This does not require hormones, although these are often used to start a sex adjustment. But the game with the role reversal does not require any further intervention at first. Whether someone is queer or gay, lesbian or intersex, ultimately does not matter. All these terms describe nothing but sexual self-determination. This is much more than just a cliché.
If hormones or genes cause someone to find themselves in the wrong body, that person should not also experience discrimination. In the Crossdresser Shop, such distinctions are not made.
